Hiring an agency to get your brand showing up in ChatGPT and other AI answers?

Ask them these 5 questions before you sign anything.

1. "Which AI tools do you cover, and where does each one get its information?"

When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Grok "what's the best X," each tool pulls from different places online to build its answer. Claude leans on brand websites and official sources. Gemini leans HARD on Reddit and YouTube.

So the work to show up in each one is different. If an agency treats them all the same, they don't understand the job.

2. "Can you show me what AI actually says when my customer asks about my category?"

You want the real answer, word for word, instead of a score or a ranking. Then you can see with your own eyes whether your brand is in it.

3. "How do you know when an AI tool has visited our website, and what it read?"

AI tools send automated programs (called crawlers) to read websites. A good agency can show you a log of every visit and which pages were read. Without that, they're guessing.

4. "What do you do when the AI tools change how they choose answers?"

They change constantly. A one-time setup goes stale fast. You want a team that checks every week and adjusts.

5. "Where do you test changes before they go live on our site?"

Changes made for AI shouldn't hurt your Google traffic. Every change should be tested on a private copy of your site first.

Most agencies can't answer all five.
