this time next week I’ll be in Miami for work and this time last year I was in LA for work, both completely paid for, because I post online 🇺🇸⋆˚

and yes I still find that so totally wild to write.

I started posting as a student with no plan and no connections, and nearly every opportunity I’ve had since has come from being visible online - as I like to say, it's not who you know, it's who knows *you* !!!

the thing I’ve learned is that it starts by accident but it scales on purpose, and I’m putting a lot more intention into my personal brand (I actually like to call it my creator brand but for breadth, let's go with PB) now. here’s what’s changed in how I think about it:

→ you pick the direction and your audience sharpens the definition. I didn’t find my thing by sitting down and deciding it, I found it by watching what people saved, shared and messaged me about, and the posts where people asked “how do you do this” kept pointing at the same place (in short, you don't need to get it right straight away)

→ my biggest mistake was staying broad for too long. being early is when you can afford to test, so test hard then and narrow as soon as the signals are clear

→ one idea should become four pieces of content. the best creators run content like a production line, so I’d rather take one strong thought and turn it into a post, a carousel, a video and a newsletter than chase four new ideas

→ every platform needs a job. LinkedIn is where people find me and Instagram is where they get to know me, and once I stopped treating them the same, both started working harder

any guesses what I’ll be doing in Miami? I’m also thinking about vlogging the whole thing, so let me know if you’d watch it !!!! (and pls throw me your recommendations as a Miami first-timer)
