Every book has an acknowledgments page that few people read. Now that Competing at Machine Speed is out in the world, I want to spend the next few days giving some of those names the recognition they deserve.
First up are five industry veterans and dear friends who shaped this book more than they probably realize, and who deserve some of the credit (and possibly some of the blame).
Justin Leigh, Yaniv Sarig, Andrea K. Leigh, Kate McCagg, and Al Sambar.
Long before we had a book, a company, or even a name for much of what we were working on, these five were generous enough to invest in us, sharing their experience, challenging our assumptions, and telling us when our thinking needed work. Which, particularly in the early days, was probably more often than we'd care to admit.
A decade of conversations, debates (massive understatement), and occasionally uncomfortable questions helped shape the thinking behind this book. We're fortunate to have had people willing to push back rather than just nod politely.
So thank you for your generosity, your patience, and your honesty.
More to come in the days ahead. And to the many others who have been invaluable to this journey, not appearing in one of these posts should never be mistaken for a lack of gratitude.
