Choosing a coding agent starts with how you want to work.

Some tasks suit an editor-based workflow. Others suit terminal work or delegation through a repository and pull request.

This FreshT guide compares four options: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent and GitHub Copilot’s cloud agent.

Their capabilities overlap. The practical differences include where they run, what they can access and how you review their changes.

My recommendation: begin with one small, reversible task. Describe the expected behaviour, provide a way to reproduce the problem and specify how the result should be tested.

Then inspect the changes and test evidence before merging. A completed agent task is not proof that the software works correctly.

Which would you delegate first: a bug fix, missing tests, documentation or a small feature?

Save this guide for your next project.
