Too many Amazon sellers are focused on launching their next product instead of building a brand that could exist beyond Amazon.

And I think that's a mistake.

Amazon gives entrepreneurs something incredibly valuable.

Access to an established audience of customers who are already looking to buy.

But that doesn't mean the entire business strategy should begin and end on Amazon.

Look at brands like Poppi and Bloom.

Poppi built a compelling story around its founder and the mission behind the product.

Bloom expanded its reach through influencer marketing, giving creators a reason to introduce its products to their audiences.

Different approaches, but both demonstrate something important about brand building.

You need more than a product listing.

You need a reason for customers to care.

You need a way to create demand.

And you need to think about where the business can grow next.

One of the biggest misconceptions about selling on Amazon is that you can simply find a product on Alibaba, list it, and expect to build a successful business.

That's not a sustainable strategy.

The real opportunity is to identify a market, understand the customer, develop a product that delivers value, and build a brand around it.

Amazon can be an incredible place to start.

But eventually, you should be thinking about additional distribution channels, customer relationships, brand recognition, and long term growth.

That's the mindset we're teaching inside the Seller Systems Academy Incubator Program.

We're helping aspiring entrepreneurs learn how to research, develop, source, and launch products while thinking about the bigger business they're trying to create.

Because launching a product is one milestone.

Building a brand that customers recognize and want to buy from is an entirely different opportunity.
