28 clicks from Amazon's Rufus assistant. Zero orders.

On a call last week, we traced those 28 clicks back to the exact questions shoppers were asking the assistant on an apparel listing:

1. How the product is constructed

2. Whether the material is waterproof

3. Whether it survives repeated washing

The product detail page answered none of the three.

Since Amazon folded Rufus into Alexa for Shopping in May and made Sponsored Prompts default-on across US campaigns, discovery is shifting from a search results page to a generated answer.

Here is the operator lesson most teams are missing:

When an AI shopping assistant sends you a click on a waterproofing question, it has already handed you a high-intent buyer. If they click and do not buy, your bid is not the problem. Your detail page failed to close the question the assistant opened.

For conversational shopping traffic, the work moves upstream:

-> Your product bullets and A+ copy are your ad copy.

-> Your review corpus is your creative proof.

-> Your keyword hygiene is your brand safety.

Pull the top customer questions on your top 3 ASINs this week. Does your listing text answer them explicitly, or are your Sponsored Prompt clicks hitting a dead end?
