"We need a specialist to take a look at this and tell us what is realistic, what

"We need a specialist to take a look at this and tell us what is realistic, what is good for us, what is doable. Of course, everyone, 1,000% of growth."

That was a brand on a sales call with us, after I asked what kind of growth they meant.

10, 20% month over month? Compared to last year?

I said: "Got it. Okay, perfect."

And honestly, it's not a problem.

A lot of brands come in knowing there's potential and having no idea what it looks like.

So we work it out with what we call our profitable scaling equation: cost per click per product, the total ACoS we need to stay under (for them, 30%), and the ad sale percentage, so how much of the product's sales rely on ads versus organic.

If we get it to 20% total ACoS and see room to grow, we might need to flex up to 23, 25% because of CPCs.

Then I go back and ask if they're comfortable with that, or happy where they are.

That "we need growth" line is what we pace against.

We check accounts daily, plus a deeper check at least 3 times a week, and the question in every one is whether we're on track for the goal they gave us.

So on a shorter date range I'll see sales drop off a cliff on a top selling product.

Growth is the goal for this brand.

That's an investigation trigger.

They still say 1,000% sometimes.

I'm checking every day against the 30% ACoS number we landed on together.
