The real opportunity in #AgenticAI isn't building another application.
It's rethinking how work gets done.
Everyone is talking about AI agents.
I'm particularly interested in what happens when we bring them into complex healthcare operations.
Imagine a healthcare workflow where an issue is identified.
An AI agent investigates the underlying data, checks relevant business rules, gathers supporting evidence, and prepares a recommendation.
Another step validates the findings.
Exceptions are routed to the right person for review and approval.
Instead of people manually moving information between systems and repeatedly investigating the same issues, they can focus more of their time on decisions that genuinely need their expertise.
That's the opportunity worth exploring.
But here's what I think businesses need to get right first:
Process: Which workflow are we actually trying to improve?
Data: Can the agent access reliable, relevant information?
Rules: What can it decide, and what must it escalate?
Controls: How do we validate its actions, handle exceptions, and maintain accountability?
#HIPAA: How can the we have guardrails for the agent for HIPAA compliance
Because adding an AI agent to a poorly understood process doesn't automatically make that process better.
And in healthcare, where data quality, operational accuracy, and accountability matter, those foundations are critical.
This is where I see an interesting intersection between healthcare domain expertise, business analysis, product thinking, and agentic AI.
If you could redesign one healthcare operational workflow using agentic AI, which one would you start with — claims, provider data, member access, or something else?
