If I ran marketing for an estate-planning firm, here's how I'd check whether AI recommends us to people who need our services.

1. Pick one buyer question and save the answers.

For example: “Best estate-planning attorney for blended families in [city].”

Ask the same question several times using the same AI tool. Save each full answer, the firms it names, the pages it cites and the date you checked. Recommendations can change between runs.

2. Read the pages AI cites.

Look at what those pages say about serving blended families and where each firm practices.

Identify the information AI is using to support its recommendations.

3. Find a specific gap on your site.

Check whether AI crawlers can access your relevant page and read the information on it.

Compare that information with the cited pages. Your page might be inaccessible, or it might be missing details about the clients you serve.

Identify the problem before deciding what to change.

4. Test the fix before publishing it.

Make the change on a test version of your site. Check that the page is accessible and the service information is clear and accurate before it goes live.

5. Repeat the original question after publishing.

Run it several times again. Compare the answers and citations with what you saved earlier, then keep checking weekly.

If your firm still doesn't appear, report that and keep investigating.

This gives a marketing team a specific buyer question to track, a reason for each website change and a way to check whether the recommendations change afterward.
