What is "Superior Content" for the Digital Shelf?

You can ask me because I've spent a ton of time working on this.

I am a judge for the firstmovr ENDCAPS awards, and I led Digital Commerce Content for Unilever's Centre of Excellence for 10 years before joining Neem.

You can ask me because I led Accessibility and Experience Design when I was at Unilever

Most brands settle for compliance. Gregor Murray and I think that's not good enough.

Having a vision for commerce content means demanding far more than bare minimum checkboxes.

Here are the 7 things that actually matter:

---------------------------------------------

1. Credible

Trusted, transparent, and verifiable. Facts, ingredients, and claims must be accurate and believable.

2. Rewarding

Beautiful, emotional content that builds brand equity and feels worth paying more for.

3. Accessible

Designed for mobile-first and inclusive access. Removes visual friction so critical text is glance-readable and unmissable for all shoppers. Older shoppers have poorer eyesight.

4. Valuable

Drives conversion and utility. Answers real shopper questions and highlights unique selling points.

5. Engineered for AI & Agentic Commerce

LLM-ready with best-in-class FAQs that engines like Amazon Alexa for Shopping & Sparky can read and recommend.

6. Search-Optimised / Findable

Content built with high-value e-commerce search terms so shoppers find you first.

7. Measurably Superior Quality

Every asset must pass the 10 eContent quality tests, which I will break down next week.

Not having a vision for your "Content for Commerce" means you settle for Compliance.

EVERYONE DOES COMPLIANCE - IT'S TABLESTAKES.

Settling for compliance is settling for mediocrity.

You will struggle to drive superior sales conversion, and conversion is the real magic.

Which of these 7 are your brands strongest on right now?

Where do they need work? Are you making the shift from Compliance to Measuring the Quality of your Content?

Next week I'll cover the 10 Quality Tests for Content for Commerce.
