Walmart is preparing for customers to give an AI agent a budget and let it place

Walmart is preparing for customers to give an AI agent a budget and let it place an order. If I sold on Walmart, I'd want to know whether AI understands what my product does and who it's for.

Walmart says Agent Profiles will launch within the next month. Customers will be able to approve each purchase or let an agent buy within a spending limit.

It's also building a gateway that lets agents shop without clicking through the website.

For brands, that makes accurate product information even more important.

Imagine a shopper asking an agent to find a carry-on that meets an airline's size limit.

Your bag fits. But if AI has the wrong dimensions, it could rule your product out before the customer ever sees it.

That's why our GEO work at Prime Team includes checking the details in AI's answers. With Auden, our team checks prices, product specs, retailers and availability alongside whether a brand gets recommended.

Walmart's announcement doesn't explain how agents will choose between products. A recommendation in ChatGPT doesn't guarantee your product will end up in a Walmart cart.

But I'd start checking now.

Pick a product. Ask AI a question a customer might ask when shopping for it.

Check whether your product gets recommended. Then check whether the answer describes it accurately.

The wrong dimensions, price or product description could take your product out of consideration before checkout even begins.
