Yesterday I had a chat with someone who initially thought we were competitors.
"I don't really have competitors. I just see people trying to solve the same problems," I said.
I'd rather focus on finding the best solutions.
Funny enough, by the end of it we were exchanging ideas, making introductions, and discussing ways we could potentially work together.
Got me thinking about something I've been noticing more and more while building ARTAN AI. There's really not much point in being overly secretive about what you're building. Especially in AI.
Things are moving so fast that something you've spent months figuring out might be available to everyone in 6 months. Or sooner. Probably sooner...
I've become pretty comfortable sharing what we're testing, what we've learned, and even what we're working on next.
If anything, those conversations have opened more doors than keeping things to ourselves ever would.
And if someone wants to copy what we're doing, good luck 😄
Knowing what to do is one thing. Doing it well, making sense of the data, building systems that actually work, constantly experimenting, and delivering results consistently is a whole different game.
That's where the real value is.
There's less competition for harder things.
Of course, some things are worth protecting. But I'd rather spend my energy building relationships and moving faster than worrying about who's copying me.
The people you see as competitors today might be your best partners tomorrow.
Makes me wonder how many opportunities we miss simply because we assume we're competing...
Thoughts?
