Absolutely Incredible — Not only is Google working to block AI crawlers, but the folks at Nozzle uncovered evidence that Google is deliberately serving FAKE search results to scrapers
The "poisoned" search results look real, but contain garbage data.
"The page looks normal. The results don’t. No error, no captcha, the same template, but most of the keyword’s usual sites are gone: the organic results keep 20.7% of the previous SERP’s sites, against 88.5% before."
Presumably, Google is only serving these results to scrapers. Normal users will see correct Google SERPs.
This means any AI crawlers, scrapers, or rank trackers who ingest these search results may pollute their own data if they aren't careful.
Wow. An interesting escalation in the AI data wars.
