A month ago, my dad was visiting me from Italy and dropped this line on me: “I didn’t know you were in marketing.”

I laughed. I’ve been in marketing since 2019. But in his head I’m still the one who “writes” because he hears me talking about blog posts.

For the longest time, I wanted to be a journalist. I used to write and write and write, back when a fictional story was an acceptable birthday gift (or a way to burn your brother, sorry bro for sending you to the moon in your swimsuit).

I got my bachelor’s in Journalism, wrote music reviews, and fully saw myself interviewing Harry Styles.

But life has a funny way of changing plans. A move to the Netherlands, a Master’s, and an internship at Elsevier later, I’m a Content Strategist for a B2B SaaS company (hello Tellent).

So no dad, I’m not exactly “writing” anymore, but he’s not totally wrong either.

Now my days are filled with planning content, interviewing SMEs, SEO (or GEO, whatever you wanna call it these days), and reports, but I’m still the creative girl, and I want to keep that wherever I end up.

I always had a plan and life moved me around anyway, so career-wise I don’t know where I’ll be in 5 years, and I’m excited to find out. Personal life-wise? Surrounded by multiple dogs in a house with a massive garden. Non-negotiable.

This is my first post for the #PLMLinkedInChallenge, and hopefully the first of many. Thanks Pretty Little Marketer and Dayana Collazos Ibarra for the nudge to finally show up here.
