❗️POP QUIZ❗️

Product Pages = 253% ACOS.

Rest of Search = 44% ACOS.

Top of Search = 30% ACOS.

Your target is 30%. You panic and lower your keyword bid from $2 to $1.

Next week your ACOS is WORSE.

Why?

The answer is...placement math.

Before you touched anything, your CPCs looked like this:

🔸 Top of Search averaged $2 - great ACOS, strong conversion

🔹 Product Pages averaged $1 - terrible ACOS, low conversion

When you dropped that bid to $1, you didn't lower ACOS evenly.

You pulled yourself OUT of Top of Search entirely.

All your spend isolated onto Product Pages, the one placement where conversion was already in the toilet.

So you lost the sales that were carrying you, and doubled down on the traffic that was killing you.

It's one bid with a multiplier. That's ALL one CPC.

So if you only lower keyword bids without increasing your Top of Search adjustment to defend that placement, you're forcing your ads to their worst-performing spot.

That's why 90% of "lowering bids raised my ACOS" stories happen.

You have to handle keyword bids and placement settings in tandem.

Do that properly and this scenario doesn't exist.
