Stop treating your Best Seller Rank like badge of honour.
I get it, it moves daily, it's public and watching it hit the top feels great!
But BSR tells you how you're doing against everyone else in the category.
It says nothing about whether the sales are worth having.
You can improve BSR with a promo that loses money.
You can improve BSR by discounting into a segment that never repeat buys.
You can improve BSR the week before an AVN and hand Amazon a bigger number to negotiate against next year.
None of that is growth.
The number worth watching daily isn't rank.
It's net margin on the ASINs driving it.
