Amazon sellers do not need more original product ideas. They need better reasons

Amazon sellers do not need more original product ideas. They need better reasons for customers to choose their product.

This came up during my conversation with Gavin Cheung at Amazon Accelerate, and it is an important distinction in how we approach product development.

You do not need to reinvent the wheel.

You need to create additional perceived value.

Sometimes that comes from adding a new feature.

But new features can become expensive quickly when you start talking about molds, tooling, and manufacturing changes.

The improvement does not always need to be complicated.

Could you add a complementary bundle item?

Could you make the product smaller or more efficient?

Could you improve the sizing?

Could you make it universally sized?

There are a lot of ways to make an existing product more valuable in the eyes of the customer without completely redesigning it.

The harder question is figuring out WHICH improvement customers actually care about.

That is where we use AI and Data Dive together.

We want to understand who is buying the product, why they are buying it, what their biggest pain points are, and how the existing options could be improved.

Then we can combine those insights and start generating product development ideas based on actual market information.

That is very different from sitting around brainstorming features you personally think sound cool.

For Amazon sellers, the goal should not be innovation for the sake of innovation.

The goal is creating a meaningful reason for the customer to choose you.

Sometimes the winning improvement can be surprisingly simple.

If you want to use marketplace data to find those opportunities, start here:

When you evaluate a product, what do you look at first to find opportunities for additional perceived value?
