I was born in Brooklyn. New York City is my hometown.
For about 100 years, it has been home to the largest Jewish population outside of Israel.
October 7th is tomorrow. 3 years ago, 1,200 people were murdered in Israel. Unarmed women. Children. Grandparents. Families in their homes. 251 more were taken hostage.
And in my city, a rally is planned at City Hall on that exact day. The flyer says "glory to the martyrs, victory to the resistance."
This is not politics. This is ethics.
You can care deeply about Palestinian lives and still say that glorifying the killing of unarmed women and children is wrong. Period.
When we celebrate violence against civilians in the city that so many Jewish families call home, we should all be asking where that leads.
I'll be mourning the 1,200. I hope you will too.
