I'm happy to announce that I successfully defended my master's thesis in Software Engineering last week. I want to use the opportunity to give a quick update on what I experienced over the last few years and what's next.
During my studies in Denmark, I had the opportunity to work with great people at nabogo. This job not only improved my technical expertise, but also helped me to better understand what it means to work in an agile and outcome-driven way. Focusing on building solutions that actually provide customer value seems especially relevant today: new code can be generated within seconds; however, extending a system often increases complexity, and managing that complexity is still expensive.
While building a carpooling app in my student job, I used my studies to explore other parts of the software universe. In my second semester, for example, I attended a course on deep learning to understand the mathematical foundations of today's popular agents. Two courses in cybersecurity taught me a great deal about Linux and showed me how different vulnerabilities can be used to attack a system.
The ability to be curious was something I wanted to preserve in my new job. Therefore, I've accepted a position at the SDU eScience Center as Research Support Specialist for Cloud Technologies and Digital Innovation. I'm looking forward to collaborating on cutting-edge research projects and to designing solutions for industry partners.
Lastly, I want to thank all the people who supported me along the way: my friends both in Germany and in Denmark, my family and my former colleagues at ADFERENCE and nabogo. You guys are truly incredible, and I want you to know that I would not be as happy as I am today without you.
