How would you know if AI was actually sending customers to your business?
That's the question I've been thinking about since my last post.
Imagine you're a coach and three people book discovery calls with you this week.
One first discovered you during a conversation with ChatGPT. Another spent time with Gemini comparing several coaches before eventually searching for you by name. The third came through Google.
You see three appointments on your calendar.
But how much do you really know about what happened before they got there?
We've spent years building tools that tell us where website traffic comes from, what people click and whether they convert.
But AI is creating a new part of the customer journey that can begin long before someone reaches your website.
And most businesses have very little visibility into it.
Did AI recommend you?
How often did your name come up?
Which competitors were recommended instead?
Did someone click through after seeing you in an AI answer?
Did that click eventually turn into an appointment, demo, booked service or store visit?
The more I've thought about this, the more I've wondered what the instrument panel for this new customer journey should actually look like.
Not another dashboard filled with metrics that don't mean much to a business owner.
Something that helps answer a much simpler question:
Is AI actually helping me get more customers?
We've been working on that instrument panel for quite a while now.
And we're getting very close to turning it on.
