Tell your AI agent to code something? It writes the code itself.
On whatever default model it happens to be running.
Is that "good"?
Slow, capped & not the model you think you're paying for.
(I found this building a GrokBot setup.)
A better prompt didn't fix it. A standing order did:
"You do not code. Every coding task kicks off a Cursor cloud agent."
Then I set Cursor's default model to the one I actually wanted.
Every coding job now goes to a cloud agent on that model, and I don't have to remember to ask.
Spent hours tuning prompts and never looked at routing?
⤷ Routing decides which model does the work.
Open your agent's instructions.
If nothing in there tells it what not to do itself, add the line.
