EN 301 549 and WCAG are related, but they are not the same.

Product teams should understand the distinction:

- WCAG gives technical accessibility criteria for web content.

- EN 301 549 covers broader ICT products and services.

- EN 301 549 can involve apps, software, documents, support services, hardware, procurement, and conformity evidence.

- Version matters, especially when legal reference depends on EU Official Journal citation.

- Audit reports should state scope, standard version, WCAG level, evidence, remediation, and retest status.

The practical rule: use WCAG for testable criteria and EN 301 549 for broader ICT accessibility scope.
