Your competitor has 10,000 reviews. You have 37.
Amazon’s newest ad product could help close that gap.
Review Requests is coming to US open beta in late October.
Brands will be able to run ads that reach recent purchasers while they’re shopping on Amazon, inviting them to leave a rating in one click or add a written review.
Amazon says early testing delivered 3x as many ratings and reviews per week compared with before the test.
The number I want to see is what does it cost to drive a review.
Despite the cost, for new products, this is very valuable. Shoppers comparing your 37 ratings with a competitor’s 10,000 don’t have much evidence to go on. This helps speed up the time gap.
I like the limit Amazon is putting on it.
Products qualify below 1,000 total ratings and reviews. Campaigns automatically pause when they reach that threshold.
I do wish Amazon offered an Uber-style experience.
Every so often, you open the app and get a simple prompt to rate a recent purchase. One tap. Done.
Make leaving feedback easier as part of the shopping experience, without requiring brands to fund another campaign.
Still, this gives brands another way to overcome one of the hardest parts of launching on Amazon: getting enough customer feedback to earn the next shopper’s trust.
The economics will decide how valuable.
What would you be willing to spend per additional review?
