Anthropic shipped Opus 5.5 last week. Big-model performance at a lower price, and probably my favorite overall model right now (though it can be verbose if you don’t change its system instructions). I was an early tester of this model and really love it. Sonnet 5.5 also landed yesterday at 30% faster. If you have a low-risk workhorse task (ex: constant CRM updates), try it there. 90 minutes after Anthropic released Opus 5.5,
OpenAI dropped GPT-6 Sol and Luna. About half the cost of their last generation, and they claim that Sol makes about half as many mistakes. OpenAI DevDay is this week, so be prepared for tons more.
Meta launched Muse, their newest personal agent on Sept 8. The avatar is that poofy blobby sheep you’ve seen everywhere. Zuck announced it will also be released as a keychain, likely shipping in December. And if you missed it yesterday, Meta also launched an entire enterprise business, led by Chirantan "CJ" Desai, the former CEO of MongoDB, who was also previously at Cloudflare and ServiceNow.
