🚨 Here is my yearly Amazon Accelerate Seattle post! 🚨
No, it has nothing to do with the conference. Personally, I think the event is a colossal waste of time.
What is NOT a waste of time is exploring my beloved hometown! Yes, that's right. Born in Seattle and a University of Washington graduate! Go Huskies.
Do whatever you have to do to carve out some time to explore the surounding area.
Here are my top 5 MUST VISIT sites:
1- Best crab cakes? They are not found in the gimmicky Pike Place Market. Yes, I just defamed the famous tourist trap. Still go and see the guys toss some fish around, but overall, it's not a very nice spot. Instead, walk a block down to the Four Seasons and enjoy the best crab cakes known to man with a view. You won't regret it. No lines!
2- Take the 30-minute Bainbridge ferry and enjoy the view as you drive to the cinematic Bloedel Reserve, which also happens to be the largest moss garden in America. They have the most magical walking trails you will ever experience. It's almost like a Zen-like feeling when you are there. When you are there, you never want to leave. They also have a cute little cafe there if you get hungry.
3- The Space Needle is a must. So many go to Accelerate and NEVER go to this iconic site. It's actually not a tourist trap and is worth every penny. Enjoy the view! There's nothing like it.
4- HACK: Drive to Snoqualmie Falls and enjoy a cozy lunch with one of the best views in the world. The restaurant is inside Salish Lodge that sits right on the cliff's edge. Make sure you buy their famous biscuits and honey that is grown on the property!
5- Book a "Beneath the Streets" tour and enjoy some rich Seattle history! Few know that Seattle has hundreds of underground tunnels that acted like a second city. If you have time, it's worth it!
Those are 5 incredible ideas, but there is so much more! I almost feel bad for only including five. Seattle is one of the most unique cities you will ever visit. I will warn you, though. The homelessness crisis is truly out of control there, and you will be smelling weed nearly every moment outside of a building.
