When brands get reactive marketing right. LOVE. ☕

Starbucks' social team just responded to the viral iced coffee job interview debate.

For those blissfully unaware, the internet has been losing its mind after a recruiter said that Gen Zs bringing iced coffee to an interview is unprofessional (there's lots to unpack here, but stay seated).

And Starbucks social teams enters the chat with this post.

"pulling up to the interview like"

The deliberately wired headphones. The loafers. The saddle bag.

SO SIMPLE. Brands often overcomplicate reactive marketing (or hop on trends randomly), and so this passes my quick sense check:

✅ Category fit: A coffee debate makes sense, but for a toilet paper brand... not so much.

✅ Competition: If Blank Street had already reacted (spoiler alert: they haven't), how do you one-up the creative so it doesn't feel stale

✅ Creative: A clever Easter egg in the caption, love!

✅ Timing: Within 24 hours

Bravo to the Starbucks team for moving fast!
