Yesterday, I went for my usual lunchtime walk and bumped into one of my old teachers.

My form tutor and GCSE history teacher, Ms Madison (thanks for helping me get the A* in history!).

We hadn’t seen each other in years, so we stood chatting about life and I mentioned that I now have a 7 year old daughter.

She couldn’t believe it.

She said in her head I’m still 15-year-old Hannah and she half expected to ask me, “Where’s your homework?”

And I’ve been thinking that it’s strange how time works.

To her, I’m still the teenager sitting in her history class.

But since then I’ve gone to university twice, built a career, got married, become a mum, started a business and somehow ended up in my mid-thirties.

Life moves so quickly while you’re busy living it.

We’re always thinking about what’s next. The next goal, the next milestone, the next thing that needs doing.

Then you bump into someone who knew you 20 years ago and suddenly realise just how much life has happened in between.

A slightly existential lunchtime walk, I must say!

But also a nice reminder to appreciate where you are now, because somehow this will be the bit of life you’re looking back on in another 20 years.
