Amazon confirmed Prime Big Deal Days for October 6-7. Walmart just dropped Fall

Amazon confirmed Prime Big Deal Days for October 6-7. Walmart just dropped Fall Deals starting October 5. Same weekend. Two competing events.

If you sell on both platforms, your prep just doubled and the pricing coordination just got a lot more dangerous.

Walmart was our fastest-growing marketplace channel during Prime Day this summer. Brands that ignore it during a competing event are leaving real money behind.

But running deals on both platforms at the same time creates a specific risk. Amazon's pricing algorithm compares your price to Walmart continuously. If you discount deeper on Walmart and Amazon catches it, you lose your Buy Box. For most brands that cuts Amazon sales by roughly 80% overnight.

The rule: When the discounts go live, adjust Amazon down first, then Walmart.

When you're raising prices back up, raise Walmart first, then Amazon.

Walmart’s event starts before Amazon’s and ends after it, so be careful with promo timing. A lower Walmart price could get your Amazon listing suppressed before Prime Big Deal Days even starts.

Beyond pricing, the basics still apply:

- Ship inventory to both platforms now. Amazon warehouses back up fast heading into October.

- Get your lightning deal applications in while there's still a window.

- Keep ad spend on after both events so you don't hand back the rankings you just paid to earn.

- And don't run out of stock on either side. You don't want to gain a wave of new customers and then have nothing to sell them.

Both events are three weeks out. Coordinate now or spend November fixing what went wrong.
