Most Amazon sellers are still treating Sponsored Products videos like a basic product demo. That is probably the wrong approach.
Amazon Ads sent me a box ahead of Amazon Accelerate 2026 in Seattle, and inside was a question about what makes an effective Sponsored Products video, especially for an advertiser creating one for the first time.
My answer comes back to relevance.
I had the opportunity to interview someone who worked on the team and had access to internal performance data. One of the biggest takeaways they shared was that the strongest videos focused on one main customer pain point and one primary product feature.
That makes a lot of sense when you think about how customers actually search on Amazon.
Different keywords can represent different problems, priorities, and purchase intent. Instead of creating one generic video that tries to explain everything about your product, create multiple short videos that speak directly to those different reasons someone might be searching.
Understand your customer.
Understand the main features that matter to them.
Understand the keywords connected to that intent.
Then create short, focused videos around those specific messages.
Do not just make another generic unboxing or product showcase because you feel like you need video content.
Make the video relevant to the customer you are trying to convert.
I’m looking forward to hearing what Amazon Ads has coming next at Accelerate 2026 in Seattle.
