Amazon getting harder does not mean the opportunity is disappearing. It means the standard for capturing it is getting higher.
That distinction matters for Amazon sellers in 2026.
Customers have become incredibly comfortable purchasing through Prime.
They might discover a product on TikTok, another social platform, or even inside a physical store. But when they are ready to research or purchase it, many will still pull out their phone and look for it on Amazon.
That behavior creates an enormous opportunity for brands that understand how to position themselves correctly.
At the same time, the marketplace is changing.
As discussed in this video, as much as a third of the sellers who were selling on Amazon two years ago are gone, while sales have increased.
The important takeaway is not that Amazon has suddenly become easy.
It is almost the opposite.
There may be more revenue available per seller, but capturing that revenue requires better execution.
Fees matter more.
Tariffs matter.
Margins matter.
Product development matters.
Positioning matters.
And operational efficiency matters.
This is why I think the days of treating Amazon like an easy side hustle are becoming less relevant.
If you want to build something substantial, you need to operate like a real business and build a real brand.
That means understanding where demand exists, developing products around actual customer needs, knowing which keywords you can realistically compete for, protecting your margins, and building demand beyond Amazon itself.
Opportunity and difficulty can increase at the same time.
The sellers who understand that will approach 2026 very differently from someone simply looking for the next easy product.
