Pretty Little Marketer yesterday was the most enjoyable conference I've ever been to. So much so that I'm listing out why:
- Perfect for introverts like me. They had skill sharing sessions and dedicated times where the speakers were sat on the couches ready to chat. And it wasn't in a massive unfriendly warehouse. It was a quirky hotel covered in neon lights and a twirly tube filled with fresh oranges. It made it easier to network with people when you can sit on a couch together with strangers and chat. No barriers. No being handed a microphone and being asked to ask your question in front of everyone.
- The talks were quality over quantity. I didn't need to scrutinise my calendar because the talks were in the same room and they didn't overlap. I could chill out in a darkened room and watch, almost like being at the cinema.
- And we weren't 'being sold to'. Every person talking had a really captivating personality and shared stories and skills. Nobody was obviously selling things.
- It wasn't 'all about AI'. It was the opposite. The speakers talked about how genuine connection is the way forward.
- Catering for all diets and the food was so well thought through 👌👌👌 for some reason I get too shy to ask sometimes and it's so nice not to have to ask for oat milk and the food is clearly labelled as vegan and lists ingredients. It's just SO. MUCH. BETTER.
- Swag with positive affirmations 🥰 it's just wholesome.
So thank you for a brilliant conference Sophie. I have so many takeaways from it. You've no idea. Such a great way to spend a Friday.
