A recruiter cannot tell whether you can run Amazon ads.

A recruiter cannot tell whether you can run Amazon ads.

They can tell whether you sound like you can. Those are different skills, and only one of them shows up on a call.

I learned this by accident.

My team lead at the old agency had managed Amazon ads every day for ten years. When he interviewed someone, he'd ask one thing and just know.

Not because he was a good interviewer. He wasn't, particularly.

Because he'd made every mistake the candidate was describing. He could hear immediately whether they'd actually made them too, or just read about them.

That is not a process you can write down and hand to somebody else.

It's why the last round at Pare, before any client sees a candidate, is a conversation with someone who has managed Amazon ads every day for ten years.

Almost every recruiter and almost every agency has this exactly backwards.
