excited to announce I am *not* in any LinkedIn programme (and I’ve also been full of contempt since they took my Top Voice badge away from me last December, lol)
at some point last year I hung up my *top tip* and *value first* content because sharing how I did things and commenting on the latest campaigns got, well… boring.
I was tired of being another creator in your feed telling you what you should and shouldn’t do on social media (spoiler: there are no rules and my siloed experience isn’t universal)
and done forcing myself to churn out “campaign content” like I was a news outlet (double spoiler: I’m not)
I also just find “personal branding” tough anyway. how does one strategise themselves? what if I want visibility without the imposter syndrome of shoving myself as a thought leader down people’s throats? what if the value I bring is a feeling not a thought?
I started sharing quick thoughts, opinions, behind the scenes and (on paper) it cost me.
behind the scenes my business is doing better than ever, my personal brand is more fun than ever and I actually enjoy sharing content on this platform after feeling burned out trying to keep up for my first 4 years of trying.
aside from my (rather clear) frustration with how that’s cost me (my beloved Top Voice badge), I guess I wanted to share some perspective for those of you who also fall into the trap of “oh that’s really cool for them but, why not me?”
you don’t need the invite or the badge to have impact, to change careers, to push an industry towards something better.
I’d bet most of you are already doing a pretty killer job without it.
so I get it, but you got this !!!!
PS. likely the most *honest* piece of content I’ve ever put on the world wide web so enjoy
