Today, Carters Inc. announces an exciting new chapter in their iconic 161-year-old brand. I had my own “Watch Them Glow” moment during a recent early morning release meeting last month.
To minimize impact to consumers, our team launches major updates to Carters.com early in the morning. Not realizing that I was working, my daughter Avett ran into the room and enthusiastically pointed at my screen “I love this dress, daddy. Can I have it?” Unbeknownst to me, my mic was on and our whole team eavesdropped on this sweet, early morning exchange between a father and his child.
There were chuckles amongst my colleagues and the tender moment sliced through what was a serious meeting. The stress surrounding the launch instantly melted because, I believe, my daughter introduced clarity to our mission that morning. We don’t *really* wake up at 4am for KPIs, site speed, or SEO optimization. We do it to celebrate the unique light in every child - the same unique, bright light that brought a brief moment of joy to 50+ caffeine deprived adults on a 5am release call.
Two days later an unexpected Carter’s package showed up on my doorstep. It was the exact dress my daughter was clamoring for during our release call. My kind manager Elizabeth recognized my daughter Avett’s excitement and took time out of her busy day to send a gift. Today, Avett picked the same dress out of her closet, dressed herself, and proudly wore it to daycare. #GlowTogether #LifeAtCarters
