If you don't have reviews yet, paying for non-brand clicks on Amazon is setting money on fire.
Amazon shoppers buy on price and review count. A stranger searching a generic term clicks on whoever has the most proof.
Ten reviews doesn't beat ten thousand, no matter how good your product is.
That's why non-brand clicks have climbed from pennies to 5, 6, 10 dollars in competitive categories. You're paying premium prices to send strangers to a listing with nothing behind it.
Brands with real reviews and reach can still win that fight. New brands can't win it yet. Trying anyway just burns budget.
Here's what to do instead:
1. Get famous somewhere cheaper first, TikTok or Meta, where clicks don't cost five to ten dollars.
2. Build proof there.
3. Then let Amazon do the one job it's built for: cashing in once someone who already trusts you searches your name.
