Amazon's AI skipped 7 of 12 questions on these listings.

A coffee brand's listing we worked with had strong bullets, a full A+ module, and professional imagery, but sales stayed flat for over a year and never matched the price point.

The assumption was simple, if the copy reads well to a person, it should register the same way with Amazon's AI shopping layer, since that has been true under standard SEO logic for years.

But what is happening is different, since Amazon's AI system builds a structured model of a product from every text field, then checks whether that model can answer a real shopper question with a specific fact rather than a description.

So a bullet claiming an unparalleled aroma gives the system an adjective, while a bullet stating the exact oxygen level under nitrogen packing (yes, learned that while optimizing lol) gives it something it can connect to an actual question.

All because the way Amazon understands a listing comes from COSMO, the system that works in the backend to comprehend what your inputs should mean when added to your listings, it is like it relates your keywords with more dense and specific topics to create an idea of your product (for reference, there is an image where I show you how that relation looks like).

This week's case runs 12 real customer questions against a live listing, cross-referencing the PDP, the backend flat file, and 12 months of Search Query Performance to see where the listing could and could not answer.

The interesting part is how some backend fields disagreed with each other inside the same variation family, and one keyword with strong category search volume had produced zero impressions on this specific ASIN the entire year.

The full breakdown covers the exact order of operations followed inside the account, the evidence used to confirm each claim before a single word was rewritten, and how the listing moved from answering 5 of those questions to nearly all of them.
