Amazon launched a new variation theme for quantity
It'll now display quantity alongside size & color
Displays as "X count" for single-packs and "X count (Y packs of Z)" for multipacks
Example, a listing for zip ties used to be titled "72-pack heavy duty zip ties 8 inch"
A multipack of the same product displays as "144 count (2 packs of 72)"
Cleaner, more comparable, better for the shopper
Search results will start filtering and sorting by unit count in categories that adopt it
Shoppers making price-per-unit comparisons will see standardized pricing math for the first time
Three things every brand should do now
➝ Check if your product types are in the 193 categories launched
➝ Enroll top SKUs in the theme before the categories become mandatory
➝ Audit multipack listings to make sure unit count and pack count are structured correctly for the theme
Amazon changes like this always follow the same pattern
Optional, then encouraged, then default, then enforced
Every optional Amazon rollout has a preview of the next mandate
