I think part of the problem may be the way we're defining “winning.”

If the race is measured only by who develops the most powerful AI first, we're leaving out a pretty important measurement:

Can we still control what we created?

I'm excited about AI too. I build with it constantly. That's exactly why I don't see capability and control as opposing goals.

The more powerful the technology becomes, the more important our ability to remain in charge of it becomes.

Maybe the real winner won't be whoever gets there first.

Maybe it will be whoever figures out how to move forward without losing control of where we're going.
