She was 11 months old.

I was going through a divorce and had moved back in with my dad while I was in transition.

He woke me up at about 6:30am and said a commuter plane had hit one of the towers. He had the news on in the living room.

I walked out of my room, down the hall, and started watching what was happening on the tv. A few minutes later, I watched the second tower get hit in real time.

I knew right then the world had changed.

My first thought wasn't about the buildings. It was about her. "I have to raise a child in this."

To those who lost someone: I'm thinking about you today.

To those who gave their lives serving this country: thank you.

To those too young to remember: may you never know a day like this.
