Couldn't figure out why the sales were so sporadic.

This brand was doing everything right on paper.

Exact match campaigns, relevant keywords, bids were in a good place.

But sales were all over the map.

A great day followed by several days of nothing, then a decent day, then nothing again.

We went into the account and looked at what they were actually targeting for ranking in their exact match.

They were going after keywords with 30 searches a month.

The search volume was volatile.

They were showing up on terms where people just randomly searched every so often.

So of course the sales were sporadic, because the demand was sporadic.

And honestly, this is one of the most common traps I see in launch and ranking strategies.

A keyword looks perfect. It describes the product exactly.

The conversion rate is solid when someone does click.

So you keep it running.

But if the search volume behind it is 30, 50, maybe 200 a month, you're building your ranking strategy on a foundation that can't sustain consistent sales.

The fix was straightforward.

We found a variation of the keyword with over 1,000 searches a month that was still highly relevant.

The product and intent were the same, but the volume was completely different.

Relevancy without volume is a keyword that converts once a week and leaves you wondering what went wrong the other six days.
