The appeal you will never win against Amazon.

The appeal you will never win against Amazon.

A dietary supplement seller we worked with received a single customer complaint on one ASIN, claiming the unit was expired, and the listing went inactive within hours.

The inventory at the fulfillment center was verified as within date, the account had no history of expiration issues, and the brand assumed the customer had simply misread the printed date (since it normally happens).

The issue is that Amazon's evaluation for this violation type only asks one question: was the exact unit the customer received expired at the time of delivery? But there is no image of other units, no audit of remaining stock, and no account history speaks to that.

Additionally, the condition compliance record lives in a backend table tied to the ASIN and the specific complaint, separate from the status shown in Seller Central, so an appeal built on general inventory proof gets measured against a question it was never designed to answer.

That is why it is normal to receive repeated appeal rejections across multiple reasonable root-cause combinations, but it signals that the case has moved from appealable to another type of case that has only one way to be solved.

This week's OSS Lab case breaks down:

• The exact order of appeal and acknowledgment submissions, including which root cause and sub reason combinations were tried and rejected before the case moved to acknowledgment.

• The structure of the Quality Control SOP submitted as documented corrective action, and how it was built to satisfy Amazon's proof requirement.

• The escalation path used once the primary restriction cleared but a secondary internal flag kept the listing inactive.
