everyone tells you to scale fast… build the team, raise the round, hit the numbers by year two or you’re doing it wrong.
I built Pretty Little Marketer for six years before I made my first hire (of whom you will get to meet very very soon after we ventured to Candid Studios to get our v first team pics !!!)
not because I couldn’t have done it sooner (I could) but because I wanted the foundation to be right before i brought anyone into it.
I wanted to understand every part of the brand myself first, so that when i did hire, I knew exactly what I was hiring for.
growing slowly gets a bad reputation - treated like a lack of ambition, when really it can be the most ambitious thing you do.
it means you’re building something that lasts instead of something that just looks impressive for a quarter.
so if you’re taking your time, doing it your way, waiting until it’s right: that’s not falling behind.
that’s *actually* kinda chic.
I mean, what’s the rush? right ??
