I reviewed another Amazon listing this week and immediately knew the person in the image was AI-generated.
But here is what bothered me:
The person had no job in the image.
She wasn’t wearing the product.
She wasn’t holding it.
She wasn’t demonstrating anything.
She was just standing in the background because someone thought the image needed a human.
A $1 stock photo would have looked more natural and created more trust.
I’m obviously a big believer in AI. We built an entire Amazon creative platform around it.
But using AI everywhere isn’t innovation.
If the person needs to interact with your product in a specific way, AI can be incredibly useful.
But if you simply need a normal person in the background, use a real stock model.
The goal isn’t to create the cheapest image.
The goal is to create the image customers trust the most.
