CEO.

Q4 inventory planning started yesterday.

Solo Amazon Operator.

⠀

Fourth quarter changes the rules.

⠀

Storage gets more expensive.

⠀

Available capacity gets tighter.

⠀

Receiving gets slower.

⠀

And every seller wants more space at the same time.

⠀

Send too much and you pay premium storage rates on inventory that is not moving.

⠀

Send too little and you lose sales, ranking, and advertising momentum when demand finally arrives.

⠀

That is why I do not wait until October to make inventory decisions.

⠀

I build a six-month forecast and update it every month.

⠀

I watch sales velocity.

⠀

Production time.

⠀

Shipping time.

⠀

Available capacity.

⠀

Cash requirements.

⠀

Then I pull purchase orders forward or push them back before the options get expensive.

⠀

The goal is not the biggest possible order.

⠀

It is having the right inventory in the right place when the customer is ready to buy.

⠀

A CEO should not ask, “How much did we order?”

⠀

They should ask, “How many profitable days of inventory do we have?”

⠀

Q4 planning should have happened yesterday.

⠀

The next best time is today.
