Trademark isn't optional on Amazon anymore.
One brand learned this the hard way.
They built their entire Amazon business around a licensed name.
Big investment. Real effort. A product people actually wanted.
They put the name in the title. The bullets. The brand store. All of it.
Then Amazon flagged the listings.
Because they couldn't get the trademark.
Without it, Brand Registry was out of reach. And without Brand Registry, they had no ground to stand on.
Every reference to that licensed name had to be pulled from their listings.
Scrubbed out of titles. Removed from copy. Gone.
Total investment to get there: $30,000.
Total revenue generated: $1,800.
And no path forward.
Here's what most brands don't realize until it's too late.
Trademark isn't just a legal formality. On Amazon, it's infrastructure.
Brand Registry is what gives you:
→ Control over your listing content
→ Protection from hijackers and unauthorized sellers
→ Access to A+ Content, Sponsored Brand ads, and the Brand Store
→ The ability to report and remove knockoffs
→ Standing to fight account actions that would otherwise bury you
Without it, you're renting space on Amazon with no lease.
Anyone can step on your ASIN. You can't protect your content. And if Amazon flags something, you have no recourse.
The mistake this brand made wasn't the product. It wasn't the investment.
It was building on a foundation they didn't own.
If you're planning an Amazon launch or scaling an existing brand, trademark filing should happen before the first dollar goes into inventory.
Not after. Not eventually. Before.
Have you locked down your trademark, or is it still on the to-do list?
