Standing Out Matters

Standing Out Matters
AI is making agencies more efficient.
Amazon is making brands more self sufficient.
Automation is making execution easier than ever.
The problem?
It's making agencies look increasingly similar.
The same services.
The same deliverables.
The same dashboards.
The same promises.
The same buzzwords.
For years, agencies created differentiation through execution.
Today, execution is becoming increasingly standardised.
And tomorrow?
Much of it will be expected. Not valued.
That's why the conversation Amazon agency owners should be having isn't:
"How do we compete?"
It's:
"How do we stand out?"
Because the market isn't becoming more fragmented, it's becoming more homogenised.
Every agency claims to be:
Full service
Data driven
Strategic
Growth focused
AI enabled
At some point those stop being differentiators and become table stakes.
Which means buyers are left asking a much simpler question:
Why you?
Not why Amazon.
Not why advertising.
Not why marketplaces.
Why your agency?
And that's where many agencies struggle.
Because when everyone is saying the same thing, clarity becomes your greatest asset.
Clarity on:
Who you serve.
What problems you solve.
What you are known for.
Why a client should choose you over the dozens of alternatives available to them.
The agencies pulling ahead right now aren't necessarily better operators.
They're simply easier to understand.
Their positioning is sharper.
Their ICP is clearer.
Their sales conversations are more confident.
Their teams know exactly what they do and don't do.
As AI, self-serve tools and automation continue to commoditise execution, the value moves elsewhere.
Upstream.
Towards thinking.
Towards judgement.
Towards commercial understanding.
Towards strategy.
Because whilst Amazon may eventually automate many of the activities agencies perform today...
It still can't determine what success looks like for an individual brand.
It can't navigate boardroom politics.
It can't align Amazon activity to wider commercial objectives.
And it can't provide leadership teams with confidence in the decisions they are making.
That's where the next generation of leading agencies will separate themselves.
Not through more services.
Not through more deliverables.
Not through lower prices.
Through greater clarity.
The agencies that thrive over the next five years won't be those trying to look like everyone else.
They'll be the ones brave enough to be unmistakably different.
