Amazon shared more details about Sponsored Products video auto-assembly. As we already know, Amazon automatically creates these videos by stitching together video clips that we have already uploaded. It does not use AI-generated videos.
When a shopper is on a placement that supports video, your ad will show as a video. Everywhere else, it will continue to show as a normal image. You're only charged when someone clicks, as usual. Your campaigns, budgets, bids, and targeting don't change. Right now, this is only available in the US.
Every campaign is turned on for this by default. Amazon may generate one of these videos for you unless you opt out. Through the API, you can do 4 things:
1- Turn it off or back on for a campaign - Since campaigns are automatically opted in, you can opt a campaign out so Amazon stops creating new videos, or opt it back in later. One thing to note is that opting out only stops new videos from being created. Any video that is already running will continue to run until you pause it separately.
2- Check whether a campaign is opted in or out - You can check any campaign and see its current status.
3- See all the Amazon-created videos - You can pull a list of your video ads and identify which ones were created by Amazon and which ones you uploaded yourself. Each video also shows its status, such as waiting for review, live and running, or paused.
4- Pause or turn on a specific video - You can pause an individual Amazon-created video, in which case your ad will fall back to showing an image, or turn it back on. This is also the only way to stop a video that is already running.
A few things to keep in mind. This feature is turned on by default, so if you don't want Amazon to create these videos, you have to actively opt out. Opting out will not stop videos that are already live. You have to pause those separately. Also, this is currently only available for advertisers selling in the US.
