"No, you're not getting that pay rise"

Have you been in the following situation:

"It's been a year, I want a raise"

Ok, that's a fair point, what did you have in mind?

"Umm, 50% increase"

Ok, do you have additional experience and case studies to justify that?

"Umm, my experience is the same but I've been with a brand for 12 months now"

Ok, but is there anything you've specifically developed or examples you can share?

"Not really"

People deserve pay rises. They do.

Not just because of inflation. But in theory, they should be better every year.

But you can't just turn up to these conversations without any data to backup your requests.

One thing we do at Pare, for all our placed candidates and their respective brands/agencies, is collected quarterly feedback.

It helps the candidate gather examples and build mini case studies. So that these compensation reviews can go a lot easier.

Unfortunately, this hire didn't get his 50% rise.

Because the feedback and overall value to the company didn't justify it.

And given we collect more salary data for Amazon ads managers than anyone else in the world, at a granular level, we also couldn't make a compelling argument for it.
