Amazon just changed what your ads do.

Amazon just changed what your ads do.

Today, Sponsored Products campaigns will start appearing off Amazon, inside creator-made content from the Amazon Influencer Program, using the same bids and daily cap as your SP campaigns, and you'll be enrolled automatically.

So now, instead of your listings only appearing on your customers' Alexa chats or on search results, they can appear in ads made inside or outside of the marketplaces, with Amazon recommending your catalog to creators based on relevance and engagement history.

1️⃣ This starts with Amazon analyzing the products and listings

2️⃣ The affiliated creator chooses which products to feature

3️⃣ They create content and recommend products to your audience

4️⃣ Every time their audience clicks that product from their Amazon personalized URL, it sends the shopper to your detail page

4️⃣ It is billed as a standard CPC (The amount you pay each time someone clicks the ad)

5️⃣ And the creator monetizes their content

The part that has me thinking is that this changes where impressions originate, in addition that a campaign that already hits its daily cap now has two sources pulling from that same cap: search intent and content-driven browsing, so one of them will get crowded out.

This opens the door to more ways for your products to be seen by customers, but at the same time, it adds the complexity of figuring out how they actually found you and whether there’s anything to tweak in your listing or campaign to improve it. This is because if buyers see your content through creators, your analysis will focus more on how updating your content depends on “making it more understandable for those who promote it.”

Meaning that the detail page carries more weight now, because the creator sets the expectation before the click happens, so having old images, a variation that is out of stock, all of that turns a paid click into a wasted one.

♻️ If people in your network run Sponsored Products campaigns, repost it.
