If I joined your Amazon team tomorrow, I could work out whether your growth is making you money with 5 questions.
No dashboard, just me and your team.
1. What did last quarter’s growth cost you?
Not sales but your cost. Funding, promo support, the extra ad spend. If nobody’s netted it off the sales, nobody knows if the growth was profitable.
2. Which of your top 10 ASINs earns the least and why is it still in your growth plan?
Teams who know their numbers answer instantly.
Teams who don’t defend the ASIN instead of answering directly
When did margin last go down and what changed because of it?
“Nothing changed” is the most common answer, it’s also the whole problem.
4. Who in your business can say no to a growth opportunity on margin grounds?
A name, or silence. If it’s silence growth wins every internal conflict, all because nobody’s accountable for margin.
5. If Amazon offered you 20% more volume tomorrow, what would you need to know before saying yes?
The strong answer is a set of numbers.
The weak answer is “we’d take it.”
Five questions.
No spreadsheets.
No Vendor Central access.
Profitable growth isn’t about how good your reporting or planning is, it's a direct reflection of your decision making process and who owns what.
How many of the five could your team answer today?
